Dr. Pordeus completed her undergraduate education at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, in 1980. In 1986, she received her Master degree in Pediatric Dentistry from University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1991, she received her Ph.D. degree in Epidemiology and Public Health from University College London, UK, under the supervision of Dr. Aubrey Sheiham. Currently she is Full Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Director of the Graduate Program in Dental Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. She started her career as assistant professor at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in 1982. She has been a member of the Brazilian Division of IADR (SBPqO) since 1986, being president of the Division from 2018 to 2020. Her research focus is on epidemiology, quality of life, health promotion and biosafety. She has more than 160 papers published in Pubmed journals.
